Recent arts & crafts
Mia loves doing arts & crafts. Whether it's painting, sticking, scribbling, or messing, it's always a hit.
Recently we have done the following:
I got together a bowl of dry pasta, rice and lentils, and printed two pages of shapes for her to stick the goodies onto. She really enjoyed this. I liked how she mostly grouped the types together and didn't just mix it all together, so cute.
Some painting. I printed about 4 of the same flower picture, so that we can give to the grannies as well. Super cute how she paints each flower a different colour, and also did the stems and leaves in green. Love seeing the progress as time goes by!
Making a card for Oupa's birthday. Just some sticking and scribbling. :-)
Another one we did recently, but I didn't take any pics, was that I used the same sheet of shapes as the pasta picture, and printed a normal white one, and a coloured page, then I cut all the shapes out of the coloured page, for her to stick onto the white page. She really enjoyed it, but it was almost too easy for her, she immediately identified where each shape should go.
Fun!

I'm still scared of doing this arty stuff, don't like the mess it creates, I must get over myself.
ReplyDeleteWhat is a safe glue for the kids to use, other than Pritt? Like that wood glue?
Mia is too oulik, I know she stays at home with you, perhaps she is ready for school where they do more of these arty things? I'm sure she'll love it, I know Liam loves the interaction school has given him this year.
Do I sound pushy, don't mean to be, sorry.
Yes, I just use the Pritt wood glue, works really well. :-)
DeleteI have spent the last two weeks looking at preschools for Mia to start in January. ;-) Post coming up sometime this week about it all!

Sjoe, goodluck with the school thing, it's terrifying. I was so lucky that the first one I looked at was THE ONE. Just had a good feel about it you know. You have to feel good about the place and people.
ReplyDeleteOh, PS, have just noticed Wyn's beautiful table in the background
The school thing is scary!! You're lucky the first school you looked at was the one for you guys!
DeleteHehe, thanks for noticing Wyn's table! He's currently busy with the two benches, so excited for the completed set.

I also need to try this more often with Matthew. Mia is doing so well with the arts and crafts. Just love how clever she is :)
ReplyDeletePS:Love the big bow on her head in that last pic.
It's really a fun thing for the kiddies to do - either together with you, or just with some supervision.
DeleteHehe, the big bow on her head is actually for her Minnie Mouse b'day party, but she can't resist wearing it a bit now already!

Well done Jess on encouraging Mia in this direction. This is such great grounding for her school work too.
ReplyDeleteI saw a wonderful quote the other day, (forgotten who by!! Menopause brain is horrid!!) "Creativity is Intelligence having fun!!"
Love and hugs for you both. xx
Ah that's a beautiful quote, I love it!
DeleteThanks Shazzie!
Hugs too
